ChiroPulse Server SQL 2000 Firewall Configuration

This setup is for ChiroPulse Server Tools running Microsoft SQL Server 2000 MSDE.
     
If you are using ChiroPulse Server with Microsoft SQL Server 2005 (SQL Express) click here
 

Step 1.  On the ChiroPulse Database Server

click START >> RUN then type
  svrnetcn.exe
and click OK. This will start the MSDE/SQL Server Network Utility.

Step 2.  In the SQL Server Network Utility window select your COMPUTERNAME\CHIROPULSE instance if necessary (TP-CCG\CHIROPULSE here).

* On the RIGHT under Enabled Protocols, click TCP/IP and click PROPERTIES button.

Step 3.  The TCP/IP window will appear that shows the active port that MSDE/SQL Server uses on this computer.

Write the port number down then press Cancel to exit and Cancel again.

note: in this example the port is 1552

Step 4.  Go to Control Panel >> Windows Firewall

In the General Tab use these settings:
* Click On (recommended)
* Uncheck "Don't allow exceptions" if that was checked.


Step 5.  Now click Exceptions the TAB on top

Click ADD PORT button
* In Name enter: "ChiroPulse Server TCP"
* In Port Number enter the NUMBER from step 2. above
* Check TCP then press OK

Step 6.  Add another Port

* Click ADD PORT button
* In Name enter the text: "ChiroPulse Server 1434"
* In Port Number enter 1434
* Check UDP then press OK

- - - Now exit Windows Firewall and Control Panel - - -
Please DISABLE Norton/McAfee features such as "Privacy Service", "Spamkiller" and 3rd party "Firewalls".
