Default Problem during Installation, Web download, before or after login

Problem encountered during a new installation or Web download

INSTALLATION ERROR ON CLIENT OR SERVER - [Problem ID#102]

When running the installer you get the following error:
"Installation Error 1335. The cabinet file 'Data.Cab' required for this installation is corrupt and cannot be used"

SOLUTION: this is a result of a bad or defective ChiroPulse CD or download. Please download a replacement.

INSTALLATION ERROR ON CHIROSERVER - [Problem ID#110]

Microsoft SQL Server 2000 does not show as INSTALLED in Server Tools (instead of Installed/Yes - Started/Yes - Default/Yes it shows ??? ??? ???). The SQL Service Manager (Windows XP only) tray icon does not work.

SOLUTION for Windows XP: Microsoft SQL Server 2000 MSDE is installed with ChiroPulse Advanced Server as it's own instance named CHIROPULSE. If SQL Server fails to install itself with that instance it must be removed and reinstalled properly. Click here for instructions:
http://www.chiropulse.com/tech/msde.htm

INSTALLATION ERROR ON CLIENT OR SERVER - [Problem ID#115]

Afer installing ChiroPulse (or any other program) my computer cannot connect to the Network and/or other non-related software appears on my desktop. It worked fine before the installation. I get a "workgroup is not accessible" or similar error and Network Places is empty.

SOLUTION: Unfortunately, your computer was previously infected by sypware or other trojan virusus. When you installed ChiroPulse (or any other new program) the Microsoft Windows installer we use triggers this hidden spyware that creates problems with your computer. Norton & McAfee Antivirus DO NOT 100% STOP SPYWARE.
#1. use Add/Remove programs (Start >> Control Panel) to uninstall ANY SOFTWARE that you did not install or do not know what it is on your computer.
#2. use "msconfig" to turn off any malware/spyware from starting with windows. Start >> Run >> type in "msconfig" (no quotes) and press enter. In the STARTUP tab, uncheck any programs that you are not sure of. use google.com if necessary to search entries you are unsure of. When done press Apply and reboot. Upon restart use "selective/diagnostic" boot and surpress messages. This turns off spyware upon boot.
#3. Enhance the cleanup by installing Ad-Aware SE Personal Edition 1.05 which is free spyware removal software. After installation, "check for updates" then perform a "smart scan" deleting all entries found.

Problem Occurs Before I can Login and Use ChiroPulse (installation went OK)

NETWORK CLIENT ERROR, SERVER LOGIN IS OK - [#200]

ChiroPulse Advanced network CLIENT cannot connect to the Server.
From Logon window or "Network Database window" when you press OK you get this error: Fail to Login to: Server/database. Verify Settings and try again.

In this scenario, the CLIENT FAILS TO CONNECT FROM NETWORK COMPUTER ONLY. ChiroPulse Advanced works on the Server itself but NOT from any network workstations.

SOLUTION - CHECK THESE ITEMS IN THIS ORDER:
  • Server PC: Open Firewall and make sure 2 ports are open as per firewall instructions. Check WindowsFirewall, McAfee, Norton. Disable any mcaffee/norton "spamkiller", or "privacy service" or "advanced firewall". It's best to enable Windows Firewall with exceptions and disable 3rd party firewalls. If in doubt DISABLE all firewalls.
  • Server Tools: make sure SQL Server is Installed/Yes, Started/Yes, Default/Yes. if Started/??? or NO see problem [#110] above.
  • Server Tools: Write down SERVER NAME (from top title bar) and INSTANCE NAME. Click PASSWORD and verify INSTANCE NAME being used "chiropulse" or blank. You can also see the instance from Add/Remove programs: Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine (CHIROPULSE). The name at the end in brackets "CHIROPULSE" in this example, is the instance name. (note that neither the server nor instance names are case sensitive).
  • ChiroPulse Advanced Client PC: windows Start >> My Computer. Click "My Network Places" on the left. Click "View Workgroup Computers" on left. Now double click on the SERVER computername then double click on the C or "PulseSQL" folder to verify you have network connectivity to the server.
  • ChiroPulse Advanced Client PC: start ChiroPulse Advanced. At the logon window, press "Network Database" and verify the SERVER and INSTANCE names are correct.
  • ChiroPulse Advanced Client PC: disable any mcaffee/norton "spamkiller", or "privacy service" or "advanced firewall". You can reenable the XP Firewall allowing exceptions (control panel >> windows firewall)

NETWORK CLIENT OR SERVER ERROR - [#200b]

Stand Alone Computer or ChiroPulse Advanced run on the Server PC: At the logon window when you press the [Login] button you get this error:
Fail to Login to: Server/database. Verify that the Database Engine Service is started
+ set to Automatic. Verify Advanced Settings and try again.

SOLUTION - CHECK THESE ITEMS IN THIS ORDER:
  1. Check if your Server is running and/or other computers are running ChiroPulse Advanced. If problems persist and ChiroPulse Advanced cannot connect from any PC, your Server has either stopped the SQL Service or the database you selected is Unattached.
  2. Go to the SERVER computer and launch Server Tools (Start >> All Programs >> ChiroPulse Server >> Server Tools). Verify the Microsoft SQL Data Engine is Started and the databases are Attached.
  3. Server Tools: Write down SERVER NAME (from top title bar) and INSTANCE NAME.
  4. Start ChiroPulse Advanced. At the logon window, press "Network Database" and verify the SERVER and INSTANCE names are correct.
  5. ChiroPulse Advanced Client PC: disable any mcaffee/norton "spamkiller", or "privacy service" or "advanced firewall". You can reenable the XP Firewall allowing exceptions (control panel >> windows firewall)

NETWORK CLIENT ERROR, SERVER LOGIN OK - [#200c]

Using Vista or Windows XP SP2 on the Server, you can open ChiroPulse Advanced from the Server but the workstations give this error when trying to login/connect to the server:
"Fail to Login to: Server/database. Verify Settings and try again."

SOLUTION:
This is the result of the improved security in the Windows Firewall introduced with XP Service Pack 2, Vista and or aggressive "internet security" offered by 3rd parties.
  1. On the Database Server, you simply MUST configure the Windows Firewall to properly run Microsoft SQL Server.
  2. Certain newer "Norton" and "McAfee" antivirus security programs are overly aggressive and also cause this print error, even if the firwall is properly configured (one computer might suddenly fail upon installing an update of Norton/McAfee). If problems still arise, you must DISABLE Norton/McAfee features such as "Privacy Service", "Spamkiller" and "Firewall". You should leave the "antivirus" component turned on. After you disable the 3rd party firewall, you can reenable the XP/Vista firewall from Control Panel >> Windows Firewall as per previous instructions.

NETWORK CLIENT OR SERVER ERROR AT LOGIN - [#205]

Runtime Error after trying to log into ChiroPulse from the login window (#429 Active-X component or other similar error)

SOLUTION:
  • Verify you have the FULL ChiroPulse program installed and not a Maintenance Update. Uninstall ChiroPulse ADVANCED from Windows Control Panel (Add/Remove or Programs/Updates) and reinstall ChiroPulse Advanced.

I have a problem occur while using ChiroPulse after Login

CHIROPULSE ERROR/CRASH - [Problem ID#300]

ChiroPulse crashes upon using the Calendar (date range) function.
Clicking on blue daterange on scheduler or any ChiroPulse window causes a runtime, even before the calendar is opened. This can occur when Microsoft Office is installed, due to a glitch in MS Office.

SOLUTION:
  • Workaround: In ChiroPulse MyOffice TAB click the mouse on the TAN lower right "task descriptions" box. Press CTRL-C to toggle off (and back on if needed) the calendar control, hence ELIMINATING the crashing.
  • Permanent Fix: You need to install Microsoft Office Service Pack 1 and then Service pack 2 to fix a Microsoft induced bug. Alternately you can uninstall ChiroPulse Advanced then reinstall ChiroPulse Advanced.

CHIROPULSE ADVANCED ERROR - [Problem ID#301]

Printing Fails with an error "Report not created. Sub report error."

SOLUTION:
  1. Certain newer "Norton" and "McAfee" antivirus security programs are overly aggressive and cause this print error. To determine this you must DISABLE Norton/McAfee features such as "Privacy Service", "Spamkiller" and "Firewall". You should leave the "antivirus" component turned on. After you disable the 3rd party firewall, you can reenable the XP/Vista firwall from Control Panel >> Windows Firewall. Turn ON and ENABLE exceptions.
  2. If problems printing persist, you can download this updated file to fix the print errors encountered. You can download and save the file from here. Save to desktop (or shared folder to run on all network computers)
    • Exit ChiroPulse Advanced
    • Double click PreviewFix.exe and press RUN if prompted
    • Press Unzip, then Yes/OK to overwrite.
    • When finished, CLOSE.
    • Now you can reopen ChiroPulse Advanced & print!
